Download the image from your email and use your creativity to trace and digitize the image, however you would like.

The PDF guide will include a numbered digitizing plan and suggestions and tips for tracing the image.

Create A Digitizing Plan

Decide which shapes to trace first – look at the image and think of it as layers. Trace the layers in back first. Trace the shapes that should stitch first and leave the details for last.

Digitizing suggestions

The following notes are a few suggestions to help you follow a digitizing plan for this image.

These notes include the order in which I suggest you trace the shapes and the stitch tools that would be the most appropriate for the that shape.

Of course, I encourage you to use your creativity and use whatever stitch and thread colors that you would prefer! That is the benefit of digitizing our own designs. No two will ever be the same!

Digitizing Plan:

Here is a suggested digitizing plan for you to follow:

1 – Thanksgiving text

  • use the Text tool to create the text
  • choose a font and thread color that you prefer
  • adjust the size to fit the location

2 – gather text

  • use the Text tool to create the text
  • choose a font and thread color that you prefer
  • adjust the size to fit the location

2 – brown leaf

  • use the Fill stitch tool to trace the Leaf shape
  • edit the shape as needed
  • TIP: you can do this one of two ways – (1) trace the entire brown leaf and then trace the white veins separately using the steil stitch or (2) use the Fill stitch and trace small segments around the white veins – leaving those areas open

3 – family text

  • use the Text tool to create the text
  • choose a font and thread color that you prefer
  • adjust the size to fit the location

3 – leaf

  • use the Satin tool to trace the Leaf shapes
  • edit the shape as needed

3 – scroll

  • use the Satin tool to trace ONE Scroll shape
  • edit the shape as needed
  • copy and paste to create the second scroll
  • adjust the location as needed

4 – Thankful text

  • use the Text tool to create the text
  • choose a font and thread color that you prefer
  • adjust the size to fit the location

5 – green leaf

  • use the Steil stitch tool to trace the leaf
  • edit the steil width in the properties box to a narrow width
  • adjust the size to fit the location

6 – Blessed text

  • use the Text tool to create the text
  • choose a font and thread color that you prefer
  • adjust the size to fit the location

6 – Blessings text

  • use the Text tool to create the text
  • choose a font and thread color that you prefer
  • adjust the size to fit the location

7 – Gold leaf

  • use the Steil stitch tool to trace the leaf
  • edit the steil width in the properties box to a narrow width
  • adjust the size to fit the location
  • OR copy the GREEN leaf from above and move to this location
  • change the thread color to match the gold letters

8 – together text

  • use the Text tool to create the text
  • choose a font and thread color that you prefer
  • adjust the size to fit the location

9 – grateful text

  • use the Text tool to create the text
  • choose a font and thread color that you prefer
  • adjust the size to fit the location
  • TIP: trace the ligature in front of the g as a separate segment to add more interest to the text (use the Classic satin stitch tool to vary the width as needed)
