Download the image from your email and use your creativity to trace and digitize the image, however you would like.
The PDF guide will include a numbered digitizing plan and suggestions and tips for tracing the image.
Create A Digitizing Plan
Decide which shapes to trace first – look at the image and think of it as layers. Trace the layers in back first. Trace the shapes that should stitch first and leave the details for last.
Digitizing suggestions
The following notes are a few suggestions to help you follow a digitizing plan for this image.
These notes include the order in which I suggest you trace the shapes and the stitch tools that would be the most appropriate for the that shape.
Of course, I encourage you to use your creativity and use whatever stitch and thread colors that you would prefer! That is the benefit of digitizing our own designs. No two will ever be the same!
Digitizing Plan:
Here is a suggested digitizing plan for you to follow:
1 – black hat
- trace the black hat shapes using the Fill stitch tool
- edit the shapes as needed
- TIP: trace 2 separate shapes
2 – black letters
- create the black text letters using the Text tool and choose a font that you prefer
- adjust the size as needed
- select the text in the sequence view and RIGHT click to break up the text into individual letters
3 – bat
- trace the bat using the Fill stitch tool
- edit the shape as needed
4 – orange letter outlines
- in the sequence view, select one of the letters and use the Outline tool to create an outline around the letter
- this will create a run stitch outline around the letter
- repeat the same process for each of the letters until all of the letters have outlines
- select ALL of the orange thread color (the outlines) and convert the Run stitch outline to a Steil stitch using the convert toolbar underneath of the workspace – if you would prefer a thicker outline
- adjust the steil stitch width in the properties box
5 – orange candy corn
- trace the orange candy corn shapes using the Fill stitch tool
- edit the shapes as needed
6 – hat band
- trace the gold hat band using the Satin stitch tool
- edit the shapes as needed
7 – gold candy corn
- trace the gold candy corn shapes using the Fill stitch tool
- edit the shapes as needed
8 – white candy corn
