Download the image from your email and use your creativity to trace and digitize the image, however you would like.

Create A Digitizing Plan

Decide which shapes to trace first – look at the image and think of it as layers. Trace the layers in back first. Trace the shapes that should stitch first and leave the details for last.

Digitizing suggestions

The following notes are a few suggestions to help you follow a digitizing plan for this image.

These notes include the order in which I suggest you trace the shapes and the stitch tools that would be the most appropriate for the that shape.

Of course, I encourage you to use your creativity and use whatever stitch and thread colors that you would prefer! That is the benefit of digitizing our own designs. No two will ever be the same!

Digitizing Plan:

Here is a suggested digitizing plan for you to follow:

Pink flowers

  • trace the each individual flower petal using the satin tool
  • TIP: edit the stop and start nodes to avoid jump stitches within the flower
  • after you have traced one entire flower – copy and paste to create the other pink flower

blue flowers

  • trace the each individual flower petal using the satin tool
  • TIP: edit the stop and start nodes to avoid jump stitches within the flower
  • after you have traced one entire flower – copy and paste to create the other blue flower

yellow flower- centers

  • trace the each individual flower petal using the satin tool
  • TIP: edit the stop and start nodes to avoid jump stitches within the flower
  • for the flower center: use the Artwork Tool to create a circle and convert satin stitches
  • copy and paste the yellow center and place for each of the flowers

Leaves and vines

  • use the Satin Tool to trace each of the leaves
  • use the Steil Tool to trace the vines
  • TIP: decide the best order to trace to minimize the amount of jump stitches
  • adjust the stop and start nodes to minimize the jump stitches

Motif border

  • trace the motif border using the Run Stitch Tool
  • in the properties box, use the dropdown menu to choose MOTIF and select a motif pattern
  • copy and paste the motif border to the other side of the frame

Satin Border

  • trace the satin border using the Steil Stitch Tool
  • in the properties box, adjust the width you prefer
  • copy and paste the satin border to the other side of the frame
