Digitizing Tips:
Create a digitizing plan:
Decide which shapes to trace first – look at the image and think of it as layers. Trace the layers in back first. Trace the shapes that should stitch first. Leave the details for last.
Here are some suggestions for this image:
- trace the orange leaf first
- trace the gold leaf
- trace the green leaves
- add the stems and veins
- add the text
Determine the stitch tools for each shape:
Consider what stitch to use for tracing each shape. Here are some suggestions for this image:
- leaves – fill stitch tool
- veins – run stitch (bean stitch)
- stems – steil satin stitch
- text – text tool (the FTCU font is Amber)
Digitizing Steps:
Follow these 5 digitizing steps for each shape, as a guide, to get you started.
